The Red, White and Blues Band Reunites…
Members Backed Cyndi Lauper as Doc West Band in 1970s

March 24, 2006, Massapequa, New York

Cyndi Lauper’s former bandmates, Frank Delape, Greg Delape, and Ed Wenzel have reunited with fellow musicians Len Campanelli and Steve DeMieri to form The Red, White and Blues Band. Having gone their separate ways in 1978, the band will make its official comeback on the evening of April 1, 2006 at the Blue Parrot, 5460 Merrick Road in Massapequa.

According Newsday’s “It Happened on Long Island,” Lauper launched her singing career by becoming lead singer of Doc West. According to Frank Delape, “My brother Greg and I loved working with Cyndi in the Doc West days. While the rest of us went our separate ways in 1978, we’ve never stopped playing. The time was right in August 2005 to regroup and reach back into our blues roots.” The Red, White and Blues Band’s bass player, Ed Wenzel, worked with Cyndi Lauper as a member of the band Flyer.

The Red, White and Blues Band counts the Kings, Albert, Freddie and BB, that is, among its influences. The group’s repertoire also includes the music of blues legend Muddy Waters, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Eric Clapton, and others.

The Red, White and Blues Band consists of Frank Delape on drums; Greg Delape on guitar; Ed Wenzel on bass; Len Campanelli on guitar and vocals; and Steve DeMieri on keyboards and vocals.
